Goal: I was wanting to play someone with a perspective fairly opposite to Iorveth for the sake of variety and playing more with the Dragon Age lore than you get with a Rifter. After building the character with people on plurk, I may want to some day app him as a full PC, so it's maybe a little bit voice testing as well. He isn't here for any specific plot, just to toss him around and maybe offer some perspective opinions from
About: Luciano was born the first son of an Antivan merchant family, expected to inherit the family business at some point, but grew up feeling rather bored with the concept of commerce, power and navigating social hierarchy. It seemed rather pointless to him, with no real depth or meaning, no effect on the world, no great worth in the time he'd put into it. He'd dabbled in many different things in his youth - the life of nobility, of merchants, got to know the pirate crews as well as try to learn more of the Crows (almost got himself killed a few times), frivolous partying, less frivolous studying, and eventually, the more spiritual life. The kindest soul Luca's known, and the most influential person in his young life, was his elderly aunt, Cathelina Montalis, a devote Andrastian looked at as odd in their family for putting more of her efforts and fortune into civil projects and charity. The woman was a great inspiration to him - her death and how it was treated by his cousins versus the citizens whose lives she'd touched was an awakening it him.
Despite being molded into a proper merchant prince, when it came time to choose a path, Luca abandoned his inheritance to his younger sister, and joined the Templar order instead, much to his family's outrage. Several years of training and excellence (ever a perfectionist, thanks to strict raising from his parents) made him an exemplary Templar, rising through ranks quickly, but simply guarding mage towers began to feel empty and unfulfilling as well. Luca's never lacked in motivation, ambition, and the drive to achieve, and it eventually led him to be recruited into the Seekers of Truth. The year's vigil was difficult, but he persevered with his aunt's words, memories and love strong in his mind.
Luca's a pragmatist above all, and comes off somewhat strange in the company of many so fervently religious and convicted. He could also be called arrogant, sarcastic, sullen, condescending, facetious, curt, flippant and sometimes deeply shallow, but his actions are typically rooted in kindness, fairness and a devotion to getting things fucking done for the betterment of all. His least favorite activity is sifting through someone's bullshit while waiting for them to get to a point. With his opinions and stance on civil, religious and governmental policy, Luca tries to keep himself trained to a neutral sort of balance - what is fair, what is right, what will keep the people safe, what is noble and honorable. That said, he's a devoutly Andrastian boy who ascended through Templar training, and he'll lean towards those conservative opinions. Magic is a gift from the Maker, but a dangerous one that corrupts easily, and it should have checks on it, but so too should those who enforce those checks. It's a responsibility we all must take to, but especially those in a position like a Seeker. Carefree and evasive as he may seem, Luca takes his job very seriously.

The kindest soul Luca's known, and the most influential person in his young life, was his elderly aunt, Cathelina Montalis, a devote Andrastian and looked at as odd in their family for putting more of her efforts and fortune into civil projects, charity and visiting the less fortunate in their cities. Having spent many of his adolescent days following her around, learning from her, and being taught the Chant by her, Luca found much more depth and fulfillment from what life she had to offer than what his parents groomed him for. Eventually, she would pass from disease, and while her children (Luca's cousins) squabbled over rights to her remaining fortune, he'd been left much of her religious treasures and her journals, around the age of 16. While the family didn't seem terribly vexed over her passing, the communities of the local Chantries and impoverished felt her loss keenly, putting together a memorial for her and offering small gifts and words of sorrow for her passing, things more genuine than he'd witnessed in any of the business dealings or noble courts he'd attended otherwise. It was a kind of awakening for him.

Luca's a pragmatist above all, and comes off somewhat strange in the company of many so fervently religious and convicted. He'll often roll his eyes at people getting too grandiose and long-winded in their talks of righteousness and faith, finding an excess of rhetoric to feel more self-exonerate than useful to the people hearing it. To him, the dogma they've been left by Andraste has simple principles, that people shouldn't really have to overthink to understand in its basic truths. Be a decent fucking person, basically. Be worth the Maker wanting to take us back. Speaking to Luca, he seems far from the kind of nurturing and spiritual that many Chantry brothers might be, and many might wonder if he's actually as devote as he must be to have gotten this far from the Templars into the Seekers, but his faith is more private a thing. To him, what he says to a person and how he says it means very little, it's what he does and how he does it. Balance, justice, fairness and truth are virtues to him, to be held above anything else, and to do anything less than devote yourself to that is sullying the Chantry, the Templar Order, and all Andraste herself died in defending.
He comes off as arrogant, sarcastic, sullen, condescending, facetious, curt, flippant and sometimes deeply shallow, but his actions are typically all rooted in kindness, fairness and a devotion to getting things fucking done for the betterment of all. His least favorite activity is sifting through someone else's bullshit while waiting for them to get to a point. With his opinions and stance on civil, religious and governmental policy, Luca tries to keep himself trained to a neutral sort of balance - what is fair, what is right, what will keep the people safe, what would make us all more deserving in the eyes of the Maker, what is noble and honorable. That said, he's a devoutly Andrastian boy who ascended through Templar training, and he'll lean further towards those conservative opinions. Magic is a gift, but a dangerous one that corrupts easily, and it should have checks on it, but so too should those who enforce those checks. All kinds of power twist men, and if we're to place laws on other living beings, we'd best be sure we're watching out that they aren't being abused as well, or we're guilty of those sins too. He'll trust someone he knows has solid faith in the Chant and has shown the character that implies before he'll trust a stranger with no basis for it. As one who comes from an occupation that involves in-depth investigation and often firm and kind of terrifying means to get to truth, he can be very strict, fierce and harsh in what he deems appropriate to reach an end goal. Still, he considers having the freedom to do these more extreme techniques means he's also a mark on his soul if he makes the wrong choice, and someone undeserving suffers from it. Strong suspicion doesn't forgive a grave mistake. It's vitally important to him to understand all sides of a case and get as much information as possible before passing a judgment on it that would effect lives.
He's still fairly young as a Seeker, but shows much promise and capability, using things learned from his upbringing, and each facet of his training in each division along the way, and has moved from apprentice positions to his own independent assignments, often bringing him to and from the Inquisition's bases.
TL;DR - he's a rude sassy bitch who's pretty sure everyone around him is an idiot, but also believes being an idiot doesn't mean you should have a shitty life, the end. Also, Jesus-draste luvs u
